Last Night in Guatemala

Ozzy's asleep, Kimberly is packing and I'm sending our last posting from rainy Guatemala...for this trip.

The big news of the day was that our DNA arrived at the lab in the US this morning. We should have the results within 7 days.

Yesterday we met with our attorney, here in Guatemala, to talk about making corrections to our paperwork (typos mostly). We are trying to check and double check to make sure we don't get kicked out of the process as we move forward. Yes, they will do that over a typo. The rest of the day was spent running around the city and shopping.

Today we went back to the attorney's office to see our complete file and check it for errors. We found a few small things, but mostly just typos made in the translation to Latin Spanish. Every word of every original document had to be translated. Those can be corrected by the attorney.

While at the attorney's office yesterday Kimberly spotted a painting on the wall and asked about it. It was painted by Attorney Aragons wife, as are most of the paintings in his offices, and it was for sale but we would need to talk to his wife. When we arrived today there were several more paintings that she had brought from home all beautiful but not like the one we had seen the day before. Anyway, long story short, we are bringing it home with us. She painted it in 2007 (the year Ozzy was born) and we thought it would be cool to have a beautiful piece of original art from not just Guatemala, but our adoption attorney.

After the attorney visit we went to the Guatemala City Zoo with some friends from New York. It's not the Memphis Zoo, but a very nice zoo. Ozzy loved the monkey's, but who doesn't like to watch monkey's.

Tonight we were invited out to visit with the family taking care of Ozzy. Today is Fathers Day in Guatemala and it was nice to visit with them before we flew home. Irma made us fresh pineapple juice...Oh My God! It was wonderful. Kimberly and I both love fresh pineapple, but they call these honey pineapples. They are golden (like ripe pineapples are suppose to be) not like the green ones in the states that are hard in the middle. She gave us one to bring home...I'll let you know if we got it through customs or not.

I have pictures of all of this, but I can't post them tonight because I left my camera bag in Luis' van. I will post everything in a slide show tomorrow night when we get home, plus a picture of the painting.
