Market Day

Today started off with the regular Thursday visit to the "Market".  Ruth, wife of the owner of our accommodations, does all of her produce shopping at the local growers market.  In Memphis the farmers market (open May-October) is a couple dozen vendors of various produce and flowers. We had no idea that we were going to this huge, crowded weekly event.  It is easily 5 acres of any kind of produce, fresh meat, flowers, herbs, spices, you name it and it could be found there. Ruth and Daisy, her housekeeper, know many of the vendors and who has the best of each. Kimberly and I tried to keep up (Ozzy slept through most of it) and buy only what they helped us with including bartering prices...it was wild.  Kimberly quickly told me that going to the market would be my weekly project.  Oh before I forget, they sell luffa's that are three feet long (esponjas del baño or bath sponge).

The rest of the day was spent with Ozzy and hanging around the grounds.  Ozzy is doing fabulous except he doesn't want us out of his sight for a minute.  This is a pretty big apartment and you know if he thinks you've gone missing.  I'm sure he thinks that we will be leaving again without him.  It may take a while to get rid of that fear.

Update on the process:  I talked to Mayra this evening.  She delivered our file to RENAP on Tuesday for our birth certificate and checked on it today.  They told her to check back in two weeks, but she will go back next Thursday.  Please pray that our birth certificate is issued next Friday.  If there is not a problem with the paperwork there is no reason for them to hold it.

And here are a few pictures from yesterday and today. (remember to click the picture for a larger image)

First Visit to the Memphis Zoo

Sunday, February 1 was such a beautiful "spring like" day here in Memphis so we decided to have our first adventure at the zoo. Ozzy loved the animals, mostly the bears and monkeys. Enjoy the slide show above.
