Perfect Day Completed

Today could not have been better planned or executed more efficiently.  The goal was to get finished with the Guatemalan government and get started on the US. Our first stop was to get Ozzy's Guatemalan Passport, he just sat up and smiled at the camera, great picture even if he is spotted. We were there about about 20 minutes. Yes, 20 minutes and rec'd a completed passport; no trips to Wolf camera for pics and then to the post office to apply and pay and days (or in Kimberly's case months)of watching the mail box!  Yep, there is something efficient in Guatemala. Then on to the attorney's office to pick up our file for the US Embassy.  Making good time...we arrive at the Embassy and Ezra takes our file to meet Mayra while Kimberly, Ozzy and I have some lunch.  After lunch Mayra calls and we have "Orange" (approval for second DNA) and we need to call the lab in North Carolina to give them some information.  Before getting off the phone with LabCorp Pat tells me that the receipt will beat us to the DNA lab. We stopped off at a quick photo shop to have Ozzy's Visa pictures taken and when we arrived at the DNA lab the receipt was ready.  

This was the worst part of Ozzy's day.  The DNA testing looks harmless unless you are the one giving the sample.  I held him down while the lab tech took 4 long Q-tips and scrubs the insides of his cheeks.  He screamed the whole time like we are killing him, but we didn't.  So while he was worked up we went upstairs for his US Embassy physical.  More brown kraft paper (that's what all medical offices have on their tables) was all he needed to see to start screaming and sometimes even gave the appearance of convulsing.  Doctor gave him an OK and said the chicken pox were healing well. Actually the doctor said, "Yeah, you can go home, no one sick screams like that!"  GREAT day!

Then the ride back to Antigua to get ready for our move tomorrow.  If I haven't mentioned it we have to move to another apartment around the block.  This one was already rented for the next four months when we came down here.  We never thought we would still be here on October 7.  This will be a short stay at Santa Rosa.  With our DNA gone and Labcorp waiting on it to process and fly it back we are hoping to be home on or before October 17.  The two sweetest endings to today's events.  1.  Osvaldo Abernathy, is officially the son of Lannie and Kimberly Abernathy.  No one can change that or ever take it away except God.  2.  We are completely through with the Guatemalan government...bless their hearts they just don't get it.
